Trafalgar Sail

Housed in one of the original dockyard stores, storehouse number 10, you can view HMS Victory's Fore Topsail; the only surviving sail from the Battle of Trafalgar. This massive sail, was the second largest sail worn by Victory and clearly displays the damage inflicted during the battle by ball, bar and chain shot.

In addition to viewing the sail, you will see how these massive sails where manufactured, the skills required to work the canvas into the specialized form required to power sailing Men-of-War across the world's oceans.
