Using the ship as a resource this session aims to show pupils how maths can be applied for practical tasks whilst also learning about life on board an 18th century warship. Pupils can take part in a ‘voyage’ looking at supplying the ship, setting sail, fighting a battle and finally calculating the prize! The workshop focuses on developing problem solving skills and covers subjects such as angles, weights and measures, bearings and navigation. There are also ideas for lead in and follow up activities available.
