If you are tracing your family history and think that your ancestor may have served in the Navy or in HMS Victory this information should be of use to you!

If you think they were serving at the Battle of Trafalgar the first place to look is the Trafalgar Roll which you can find here on the HMS Victory website. If you are not sure whether they were in Victory but think they were part of the battle then the Ayshford Roll may provide some useful information.

Unfortunately we do not hold service records in the ship, these are all kept at the National Archives at Kew. If you would like to find out more then visit the National Archives website by clicking here.

It is possible that your ancestor may have been based at HMS Victory barracks rather than serving in the ship. This was until 1972 when it was renamed HMS Nelson. If your ancestor was serving at this time the listing should read HMS Victory (Ship) if they were based on the warship.

We hope that this information is useful to you during your search. Good Luck!
